Volunteering with Helping Hands for Puerto Rico gave me a direct line to meaningful change. The non-profit organization works to provide disaster relief in Puerto Rico and also develops educational programs in the arts, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and disaster preparedness.
I contributed over 1,000 hours to the organization, helping develop marketing campaigns and fundraising efforts. I applied for corporate grants and submitted financial proposals for government funding, corporate sponsorship, and individual donations. In order to help donors understand the need for their support, I drew from my research skills and collected data and records of statistical reports on all demographics to elucidate the severity of recent natural disasters, earthquakes, and blackouts. Thanks to these changes, I increased the organization's profit and financial gains by 13%
Last but not least, I loved collaborating with Executive Director Raymond Collazo, who managed projects with minimum resources and with great perseverance. I treasured my time at Helping Hands for Puerto Rico.
